The Faith of the  Syrophoenician Woman

Now brethren, we urge you to praise God. That is what we are all telling each other when we say,

Alleluia.

—St Augustine

It’s been awhile since I’ve done one of these with the ladies at Suscipio

Thankful for

:: my lungs ~ each inhale and exhale reminds me it was a gift from  The Breath of Life

:: my heart ~ each involuntary pump reminds me …it didn’t start with me

:: my hands ~ I can type out all my inconsequential thoughts

:: my teeth ~ if I can’t see my teeth when I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror, I know I’m not smiling

:: nature ~ which many times is my best teacher

:: books ~ can never have enough of them

:: kindness from strangers ~ they remind me to do the same

Reading

:: Commentary for Benedictine Oblates G.A. Simon ~ took me 3 years, but I finally found one I like

:: Re-reading:  True Devotion to Mary Preparation Consecration

:: Lectio in the Gospel of Mark: this verse struck me yesterday ~

And He entered a house, and would not have anyone know it;

yet He could not be hidden.

— Mark 7:24b

If He’s in your house…You can’t hide Him; and His power is available when– like the Syrophoenician woman–

we fall at His feet trusting for even the crumbs of His mercy.

Praying

Beginning a novena to Saint Rita of Cascia to end on her feast day, Wednesday, May 22nd

Kitchen Adventures

:: Vegetarian Spinach Enchilada’s

:: Pecan Berry Raspberry Coffee Cake ( yes, it was a craving)

Captured

“My Immaculate Heart will triumph”

Our Lady of Fatima,

pray for us

I just LOVE the scripture quote from Mark…I don’t remember ever reading that. I love when they pop out at you like you have never read them before!

Lots of beautiful things to be thankful for. God bless.

Theresa, I love when a verse jumps off the pages..Scripture is just a bottomless treasure.
I had never seen it either though I have verses marked around it. I’m still mining the meaning He has for me to grasp. : )
      Blessings always +

Nancy, I forgot how uplifting it is to write out that list of thanks! I get so busy sometimes, I can’t keep the posts going as often as I’d like.

“If He’s in your house..you can’t hide Him.”
That’s such a powerful thought, Caroline.
Poor Jesus..no rest..but how can you hide the Omnipotent Light, anyway?
Your kitchen adventures read like a dream restaurant’s menu!
    blessings..Trish

Trish, My kitchen adventures should probably be a book I write someday..Food has actually been a big part of my journey in the faith because I started with not knowing how to open a can. LOL
He has helped me through so much and I didn’t realize until recently how much learning to cook has been a part of that.
But, in the spirit of St Benedict, I’m always a beginner.
      Blessings always +
